Reynolds Dominates Darwin

By Peter Fitzgerald

After our successful Winton round it was back to the workshop for some preventative maintenance. This meant that we couldn’t take the car to Sydney’s scheduled drive days at Oran Park for Leading Solutions as the car was immobile whilst we checked out the gearbox, and lucky we did. After examination and crack testing we found the new LSD that we had fitted prior to Clipsal had cracks in it rendering it unserviceable. In addition to this the ring & pinion was found to be in need of replacement and we also replaced the brake discs on the car as well as our 4th clutch, which is a bit disconcerting and expensive to boot. These cars certainly cost a lot more than the previous model to run, especially in the drive train, and I put it down to the use of a sequential gearbox, as it places so much extra strain on drive train components.

Whilst the boys were busy doing this I was up in Sydney running the display/ride car at Leading’s drive day, split over 2, ½ days. From the reports that we received back these were quite successful which is always pleasing.
